chain in the metro

In Milan, in the metro, there is a chain like this.
Why? Who's for?

The answer is that this is for dog.

For me this is quite interesting because, in Japan
we can not bring a big dog in the metro, except a guide dog.

who's print is this?

"who's print is this?"

"the footsteps of bikes!"

- - - - -

Concrete is not perfect material, from the point of view of global warming.
But not only for this reason, but also because of natuer of city Milan,
concrete seems to be unsuitable material to cover the city.

Itamao told me that, because of heat in summer, the surfaces of loads
get softer and the bikes on the load creat these prints(patterns).

There is no universal material for urban desing as well as strategy.
We know we have to think about context when we think about strategy
of urban design, however do we think about context when we choose
the material to realize that concept or strategy.

ad clock in Milan

It is said that Italian people, not only Italian but most of latin people,
are quite loose towards time.

However, in Milan, there are full of Ad clock.
You can find at each conner of the city, almost.

Is this advertisement efficient?(they really look at the time?)

One said, "Yes, it is effective, italians look at how much they are late."

KABATA-かばた

"Kabata"
In Harie, one small village near the lake Biwa, the soil of this area
contains lots of pure water, and each house can easily access to
spring water. (just put in a pipe into the soil!) Then Each house
has their own small sring. There, people create an interesting
water and wastewater equipment called "Kabata", using spring water.

"Kabata"
Kabata is deviled into 3 parts, first lavel is called "TUBO-IKE".
There people impound clean water to cool down vegetable or fruits,
such as a refrige.
in 2nd level, they wash their dishes without detergent.
(not many of Japanese food contains oil, but if they use oil,
they use regular sink in the kitchen as we do). Then, in 3rd level,
there are carps so that these fish eats tiny food wastes.

Where these water go...

The (waste) water from each house flow into one river. These water
is pretty much purified by the fishes already, but in the river,
there is some plants which also helps water to be more pure.

Nespresso

Nespresso[link]

In nodesign, where I am doing my internship, while we were wating for
a cup of beautiful espresso, I heard about interesting story of this coffee,
"Nespresso".

Tell the truth, I thought this was just a mass produced product
for high market by global company, nestle.
Since, I only know a tiny part of this experience, "drink it".
However, it turn out to be a rich and considerate service.

Here is the process of Nespresso

1. Make your own acount as their client on the web site(shop).

2.get a special espresso machine and packages of Nespresso,
nomally from internet(or some nespresso cafe).
  • cofee powder is packaged for each cups(keep fresh)
  • with the machine, user can change the level of making espresso from 20 levels.
  • user can select espresso powder from 12 different taste.
  • in addition, each spring and fall, they will provide special brend.
  • each client(user) can get a special advise from specialist to find your taste.
3.Their staff will deliver to your home/office.

Yes, this is not a open and friendly service, and it is very closed and controled system.
But that keeps ceirtain quarity.

What is suprrising is that this survice(system) requests 15 years to realise,
to realize keeping certain quarity of service.
